This policy explains what information is collected by the my Green Baskets app and website ("my Green Baskets", "we", "us"), why, and how it's used. The my Green Baskets app is a local grocery ordering and delivery service.
Information we collect
When you create an account and use the my Green Baskets app, we collect:
- Account details — your name, phone number, email address, and date of birth, provided when you register.
- Login PIN — a 6-digit PIN you set to log in. This is stored securely by our authentication provider (Firebase Authentication) and is never visible to us in plain text.
- Security question answers — used only to verify your identity if you reset your PIN. Answers are cryptographically hashed before storage; we cannot read your original answers.
- Delivery addresses and location — addresses you save, and your delivery pincode/area, used to show relevant products, pricing, and delivery availability for your area. If you grant location permission, we use your approximate or precise location only to help you find or confirm your delivery area.
- Microphone / voice search terms — if you use the voice shopping list feature, your microphone is accessed strictly to transcribe what you say into text search terms, and only while you are actively using that feature (with your explicit interaction — tapping the microphone button — required each time). The audio itself is never recorded, saved to our servers, or shared with third-party advertisers. The recognized text is processed on your device, and may be sent to an AI text-processing service (see Third-party services below) solely to identify grocery items from what you said; it is not used for advertising or shared with data brokers.
- Order history — items you order, quantities, order totals, and delivery status.
- Referral and rewards data — if you refer another user or earn reward points, we store the referral relationship and your points balance.
- Push notification token — for admin/store staff accounts only, a device token used to deliver order and inventory alerts. Regular customer accounts do not register push tokens.
How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and process your orders.
- To show accurate pricing, product availability, and delivery options for your area.
- To let you reset your PIN securely if you forget it.
- To notify store staff of new orders or low stock (staff accounts only).
- To operate our referral and rewards program, if you choose to participate.
- To provide customer support when you contact us.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Third-party services we use
The my Green Baskets service relies on the following third-party services to operate:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication, database (order/account storage), and app hosting. Google's own privacy policy applies to data processed through Firebase.
- Maps / Places — used for address lookup and delivery-area selection.
- Push notification service — used to deliver push notifications to admin/staff devices only.
- AI text-processing services (OpenRouter, Google Gemini) — used only for the voice shopping list feature, to interpret the TEXT transcript of what you said (never audio) into a structured list of grocery items. These services receive only the transcribed text for that single request; they do not receive your account details, order history, or any other personal information from us.
Data retention
We retain your account and order data for as long as your account remains active, or as needed to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see Contact Us below).
Your choices
- You can update your name, addresses, and other profile details at any time from within the app.
- You can decline location permission — you'll still be able to use the app by entering your pincode manually.
- You can decline microphone permission, or simply not use the voice shopping list feature — you can always type your shopping list instead.
- You can request that we delete your account and personal data by contacting us.
Children's privacy
The my Green Baskets app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your region).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date above.
